Saco River Race


 Second Annual Saco River Kayak and Canoe Benefit Race

(Rescheduled from the original date of May 28, 2017)

   Please join us as we race down the beautiful Saco River to raise money for The Laura Foundation in Madison, NH. The Race will start at the Saco Bound boat launch just off from Saco Pines Way in Center Conway and finish at the Swans Falls Campground in Fryeburg, ME. The course is approximately 6.4 miles in length and should take less then 2 hours to complete. After the race is completed, there will be a cookout at the Swans Falls Campground, followed by quest speakers from The Laura Foundation and the Conway Area Lions Club. Awards will then be given out along with drawings the for the raffle items and 50/50.

  When?: August 13, 2017

   Registration Fees:  Pre-registration: Adults $20; 17 years and under $15. Day of the race: Adults $25; 17 and under $20.  The entry fee includes coffee and breakfast snacks at the registration station along with the cookout that follows the race. There is a small $5 fee for those that do not enter the race, but would like to join their friends and family at the cookout for the awards presentation.

    There will be 8 classes for this years race:

1st, 2nd and 3rd place metals will be awarded in each class.



1WS- Women’s Solo

1MS- Men’s Solo

1T- Tandem

1UST- Under 18 solo or tandem

  1. Only Coast Guard Approved PFD's can be used and must be worn at all times during the race! 
  2. This is a family and amateur event to raise money for the Laura Foundation. We encourage everyone to have fun, enjoy the river and the mountain views. However; alcohol, drugs, fowl language, inappropriate behavior or other behavior that endangers or offends others WILL NOT be tolerated at Saco Bound, on the river, at the cookout or at the Swans Falls Campground.
  3. There may be others on the river which are not participating in the race, please respect their rights to be on the river.
  4. There may/will be obstacles on the river, which may include fallen trees, other boaters, swimmers, etc. We can not compensate your race time for any obstacles you may encounter. 
  5. Carry in, carry out; leave only footprints and take only memories. Everyone must respect the private land owners along the river and not trespass on private properties or leave/throw refuge along the shoreline or in the waters of our beautiful Saco River. 
  6. Participant numbers must be worn on front of each participants PFD.
  7. A participant time starts once participant is in the kayak or canoe and the craft moves past the starting line. The time ends when the kayak or canoe passes the finish line.
  8. Refunds can not be issued if the participant leaves the race on their own or is asked to leave because of behavior. In the event of thunderstorms, racing will be suspended until the danger has cleared and we ask that participants leave the water during any dangerous weather conditions for their own safety. It is still yet TBD how we will compensate for time lost if participants are forced off the water because of dangerous weather conditions We will post that info as soon as we determine that.
